- Be a graduating high school student from a country in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Show financial need that aligns with the lowest two income groups in your country.
- Achieve strong academic results in your school.
- Have a history of leadership and participation in extracurricular activities.
- Be committed to returning to Africa to contribute to regional social and economic growth.
- Graduate from an accredited secondary school or meet the required academic standards.
- Meet the necessary English language requirements, depending on your country.

Students in the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at U of T receive:
